Curly Hair Stylist

KRISTEN KING: CURLY HAIR & COLOR SPECIALIST

I’m happy that you’re interested in knowing who I am and what I bring to the table for my curly hair clients, color clients, and my going gray gracefully clients. I work, specifically, with Naturally Curly Hair. Curl types vary, from head to head, whether tight or loose, course or soft, thick or thin. I work with s’ wavy and wavy hair to corkscrew, cherub, zigzag and fractal curls and coils. And, if you understand the curl type system, curl types from 2A to 4C.

I, also, color your textured hair with products that are gentle, nearly organic, for permanent color for gray to hand-painted Balayage and many techniques to achieve the color placements for my clients.

The products I insist on you removing from your hair care for your textured hair are Silicones, Sulfates, Parabens, Pegs, Formaldehyde, Alcohol, Synthetic Fragrances & color. For this reason, I help each client figure that out on their first curl care appointment.

My Education

My education with curls: I being a “corky” curl type, has always been a passion of mine. 2007 was the transformation of putting the curl clients on the salon “menu” with DevaCurl, NYC.

Since then, 2019, the curl world has exploded with products, videos, youtube, FBers. Education gave me many certifications. From DevaCurl Certified Advanced curly hair stylist & colorist, Curly Hair Artistry, Atlanta, GA, & recently, Rëzo Academy curl cuts & Rëzo Lights. My focus was on creating the best curly hair & color salon, exclusively, on the Monterey Peninsula & beyond. I believe I have achieved that.

My education with color: Color was my first love before curls because there was NO curl care back in the ’90s. I am a former L’Oreal Education Director & a former Schwarzkopf Education Director, as well. I worked with, both, companies educating salon colorists with color formulas & color techniques & color corrections & products, on the East Coast & the West. Hair shows: Key accounts in LA, SF, NYC and beyond gave me an education beyond the “chair”.

I added, a year ago, working with clients with curls that would like to transition from hair color to their natural hair color, silver or otherwise. This is a huge shift & trend. Happy to help.

I continue to keep the lights on for your curl & color care through educating Y.O.U.!
